Harjeet Singh Sehgal, better known as Baba Sehgal is an Indian musician who mastered the art of the earworm. He is the man who kick-started a new pop revolution in India and also boosted the independent music culture.
Baba is credited as the first Indian rapper to jump on the Indi-pop bandwagon, during the ‘90s his albums got frequent airplay on MTV India and he dominated the Indian rap scene with numerous peppy hits. He became a household name after the super-duper success of his first commercial album ‘Thanda Thanda Pani’ which was a remake of “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice. This album sold 5 million cassettes, becoming the first successful Indian rap album. Along with music, baba has been highly involved in other sectors of the entertainment industry and as a media personality works for many languages’ media.
