From Cancer Patients To Flood Victims, Shah Rukh Helped People From All Walks Of Life

1. Meer Foundation
Shah Rukh Khan established Meer Foundation; an organization that works broadly towards uplifting women subjected to acid violence. This organization facilitates several on-field projects, awareness models, knowledge-sharing initiatives and campaigns, advocacy, and research.
Shah Rukh Khan was awarded 2018 ‘Crystal Award’ by the World Economic Forum for the efforts made by Meer Foundation for empowering women and protecting women and child rights. Along with establishing Meer Foundation, he is also closely involved with ‘Make a Wish Foundation’, that works towards fulfilling the wishes of kids all over the country.
2. Donations To Victims Of Natural Disasters
Very recently, Khan’s Meer Foundation donated a sum of rupees 12 lakhs to the Government of Kerala’s Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund to help the victims of Kerala Flood havoc. In 2015, he donated a sum of rupees 1 crores for the Chennai flood victims. In addition to this, he donated a sum of 25 lakhs to PM Manmohan Singh for Tsunami Relief camp. Shah Rukh was one of the Bollywood celebs to perform at the Help Telethon Concert which was conducted to raise money for tsunami victims. In 2013, he donated Rs. 33 lakhs for the Uttarakhand flood victims.
3. Brought Electricity In 7 Villages
In 2009, Srk helped in lighting up 7 Odisha Villages by investing in a solar electricity project. The villagers were provided with solar lamps for just rupees 3. A recharging station was set up in the village where the villagers could go and charge their lamps. The people of these villages got access to electricity after 61 years of independence.
4. Adopted 12 Villages
In 2012, Shah Rukh Khan adopted 12 villages in Bhitarkanika National Park located in the state of Odisha. The actor takes care of all the people in the village even today.
5. Supports Cancer Patients
Shah Rukh lost his father to cancer much before he made his debut in Bollywood. In Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, he has made a special department for Cancer and Children ward which is said to be in memory of this father. When his T20 team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the Indian Premium League (IPL) season 7, the whole price money of Rs. 15 crores were donated to the cancer patients in Mumbai and Kolkata.
That’s not all, SRK bagged a special award at the 20th UNESCO Awards in 2012 for his social charity works. Along with serving his own country, SRK has done a lot of charity work in Africa and Singapore.
